Present Simple
We use the Present Simple for habits, routines, and facts — things that are always or usually true.
When to use it
Use the Present Simple for repeated actions and general truths. Common time words are: every day, usually, always, sometimes, never.
- •I work in an office.
- •We live in Moscow.
- •Water boils at 100 degrees.
Negative with don't
For I, you, we, they, make the negative with do not (don't) + verb. The main verb stays in its basic form.
- •I don't drink coffee.
- •They don't work on Sunday.
- •You don't need a ticket.
Questions with do
Start a question with Do + person + verb. Short answers: Yes, I do. / No, I don't.
- •Do you speak English?
- •Do they live here?
- •Where do you work?
